The structure is done, the keys exist, but the home sits empty and unfurnished for months or years because furnishing it properly from London, Maryland or Toronto feels impossible. Specific designer pieces, particular lighting, certain fabrics and finishes that are genuinely hard to source in Ghana can justify importing — provided the lead times and shipping are planned into the programme from the start, not discovered late. The honest rule is: import for the few pieces that truly cannot be matched here, and make the bulk locally. A home shipped entirely from abroad usually costs more, takes longer and feels less rooted than one that mixes imported highlights with strong local craft.
