An Office Fit-Out Is a Brand Decision, Not Just a Building One
A corporate office is the most-seen expression of a company’s brand after its logo. Clients judge it at the door, staff live in it every day, and a fit-out that gets it right pays back in how the business is perceived and how well people work. A fit-out is also a working environment with real performance requirements — acoustics, lighting, durability — that a purely decorative job ignores at its cost.
This guide sets out how a corporate office fit-out is planned and delivered in Accra, zone by zone. Interior Decorators Ghana has delivered corporate floors — reception, boardroom, executive and open-plan — to programme and around the working day since 1979.
The discipline is the same as any luxury interior — brief, concept, specification, procurement, fit-out, handover — but corporate work adds two constraints: it must project the brand, and it must be delivered without stopping the business.
The Zones — and What Each Demands
Reception
Reception is the first impression and does the most brand work per square metre. Specify a feature reception desk in bespoke joinery, a designed feature wall behind it, and lighting that flatters both the space and the people in it. The finishes here carry the brand — material, colour and logo integration are a design decision, not signage added later. See Executive Corporate Floor.
Boardroom
The boardroom is where the highest-value conversations happen, so it carries the highest performance demands. Two things matter most:
- Acoustic separation — a boardroom must be confidential. Partition systems are specified to recognised plasterboard standards such as ASTM C1396 / EN 520, and the room’s acoustic performance — controlling reverberation so speech is clear — is assessed against the principles of ISO 354. This is specification, not decoration.
- Presence — designed ceiling, integrated AV in a media wall, considered lighting and a table that anchors the room. The boardroom should feel like the most resolved space on the floor.
Executive Suite
Executive offices balance status with function — bespoke joinery for storage and display, a refined material palette, and lighting that works for both screen work and meetings. The suite should read as part of the same scheme as the rest of the floor, not a separate project.
Open-Plan
Open-plan is where most people actually work, so comfort and acoustics drive the design. Acoustic treatment — ceilings, panels and soft elements assessed against ISO 354 principles — keeps an open floor workable rather than exhausting. Lighting must suit sustained screen work, and the flooring and finishes must take heavy daily footfall. Durability is a specification, not a hope.
The Two Corporate Constraints
Brand-Aligned Finishes
Every finish — reception desk, feature walls, colour palette, materials, even the joinery hardware — is specified to align with the brand the space must project. This is decided at concept stage against the brand, so the finished floor reads as one deliberate expression rather than a generic office dressed in a logo.
A Programme Around the Working Day
A corporate fit-out usually has to happen without stopping the business. The build is phased — by zone or by floor — and noisy or disruptive work is sequenced around the working day or into evenings and weekends. A named project lead runs the programme so the business keeps moving while the floor is transformed. This is the heart of Multi-Disciplinary Coordination.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you fit out an office without disrupting work? By phasing. The build is sequenced zone by zone or floor by floor, with disruptive work scheduled around the working day or into evenings and weekends, run by a named project lead so the business keeps operating throughout.
How is boardroom confidentiality achieved? Through acoustic specification — partition systems built to recognised plasterboard standards, and the room’s reverberation controlled using the principles of ISO 354, so conversations stay in the room and speech stays clear.
Can the fit-out reflect our brand exactly? Yes. Finishes, colours, materials and joinery are specified at concept stage against your brand, so the reception, boardroom and executive areas read as a single, deliberate expression of the company.
Do you handle the whole floor or just one area? Both. A fit-out can be a single boardroom or reception, or a complete multi-floor headquarters — designed once so every zone is coherent, then built to a phased programme.
